I am sorry for the late reply but it happened. However I would like to leave really good feedback for you for everything I experienced in Gorilla Tours whilst my trip to Uganda.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for the incredible moments that I spent in every place of yours. The words THANK YOU are not enough but I am very grateful for all of the incredible moments and adventures which I will never forget.
When I arrived at Entebbe at 2am there was already a driver waiting for me, with his help I quickly arrived at Guesthouse Entebbe where I could peacefully sleep till the morning without waking up early. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and juice in a relaxing atmosphere with amazing service, this is what you can expect when stopping at the Guesthouse after a long journey.
The first days I spent in Kampala where I received a lot of help when trying to sort out things that needed to be done. Help was priceless, and without it I would of found it so much harder. A big thank you to you Virgo for giving me a lot of your time in Kampala. Delicious dinner and an idyllic atmosphere with the company of your office staff made the time pass by so quick, which is a big shame.
Although I travelled by myself, I stopped by at a lot of places and every single one of them had staff that gave me a big warm welcome and could always help me out. I could always rely on personal help and by phone too if I was far away from my accommodation place.
When I stopped by for a rest in Kibale Forest Camp it wasn’t as fun anymore because I arrived after dusk in the middle of a very dense jungle. I couldn’t imagine sleeping in such a luxury packed tent with a lovely smelling inside, electricity, toilet and shower and on top of that, hot water. Dreaming in such a place is a fairytale. When waking up on a morning I could hear monkeys rummaging and when laying in bed I could calmly observe them. It was just eden Here you can relax in peace and quiet as well as have the chance to set off to the Chimp walk.
Next morning when I strolled through the camp I saw how beautiful this place is in the middle of the dense jungle by the quiet river flow with scouring monkey not only on the trees but also around me. Again the breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and fresh natural juice. Bar and lobby are situated between tree top. In the bar there was always cold alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks and juices.
Here, I spent the most amazing birthday which I will never forget. In the evening all the staff had made a surprise for me which I couldn’t of dreamt about. They had a birthday party for me with the typical Ugandan music with cake and candles. I was crying from happiness. How they knew it was my birthday I do not know.
The food in Kibale Forest Camp is so delicious that a lot of famous restaurants could learn how to make such perfect recipes from the chef of Kibale. The dishes are always hot, beef was so soft and the soups had an indulgent taste, and the dessert were absolutely fabulous. And all this was in the middle of a dense jungle.
Massive respect to the whole of the camp crew. People who put their heart into what they are doing and are always smiley and talkative.
The next stop was Gorilla Valley Lodge in Rushaga in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP. A beautiful places where lodges are allocated on the edge of a mountain which is surrounded by a dense impenetrable forest literally on the edge of NP. From every room you can see the beautiful nature and when sitting on the terrace it is necessary to listen to the sounds of the jungle and sometimes you could meet the gorillas who would walk up to the lodges. At night I would sit on the terrace next to the kerosene lamp and I’d stare at the moon which lit up the dense jungle from which came the night sounds of life. Fantastic feeling.
The lobby and restaurant are on top of the hill from which is a beautiful view onto the whole Valley. Sitting on the terrace and drinking freshly brewed coffee or cold drinks, made me feel amazing in this place. In the lobby it is cosy and on the colder days during the wet season you can feel the heat from the fireplace, where after a full day of gorilla tracking you can really relax and rest on the comfortable sofas and feel like at home.
The bedroom interiors are very luxurious and with a bathroom with hot water ofcourse. Delicious food, always fresh and hot and with every breakfast some fresh fruit and juice. When setting off to the gorilla tracking, every person is provided with a food package with a wide range of products to choose from.
Gorilla tracking is an unbelievable experience, something that is very hard to describe in words, it has to be seen. Thanks to you, I had such an opportunity, which I am very thankful for. The whole trip is organised very professionally and the way is not easy but thanks to the people that take care of the place, it is very enjoyable. Wondering round Bwindi for hours I had the chance to see a lot of rare birds and different animals. Meeting with the wild elephants was exciting as well as amazing and thank to the rangers which came with us it was always safe.
After a few hours of looking for the gorillas I arrived to a place where a family of gorillas were resting and I spent over an hour there. Silverback was always aware as he was the leader of the group and the baby gorilla was always bouncing about in front of my camera and sometimes it grabbed my trouser leg, showing his skills which he already had. Rest of the gorillas were doing their own thing, not looking at what I was doing, however the distance between me and them was approximately 2-3 metres. I could feel the excitement running through me and couldn’t believe that i was so close to gorillas like Dian Fossey in the Gorillas In the mist film.
After returning to the GVL and a day full of memories , I found that this wasn’t the end because gorilla tours had one more surprise for the guests in the lobby. It turned out that it was a performance of the children from the local school, singing and dancing representing the scenes of peoples every day life in the south western of Uganda.
All of the GVL personnel always did everything so that the guests felt the best and were happy.
After three amazing spent days in GVL I yet again travelled further and stopped off in Eagles Nest allocated on a high hill on the border of Lake Mburo NP.
And again superb accommodation, big tents with a toilet and hot water. And sitting in front of the tent is an amazing view onto the Lake Mburo NP where a lot of unique species live, and at night I could hear the roaring lions or the grunting of the bush pigs.
All of my time at Gorilla Tours was a great experience with a professional kind service, smiley people, amazing food and a lot of unbelievable places and attractions.
Everything that shows Gorilla Tours is natural Uganda and not a place made to suit tourists. Everything what they promise they do. People can be sure that by travelling with you they can see the natural, wild Africa and the money spent are worth 100% for it.
Once again, thank you for the great times. Greetings to all of the GVL staff and a special thanks to my Ugandan brother from Kibale Forest Camp for everything they did for me and a fantastic birthday party.
I will definitely come back to all of these places so that I can experience everything again and to meet friends from Uganda. You can be sure that I will be recommending you to everyone.
Virgo, a massive thank you and warm greetings for you and the whole of your family,
5th-28th May 2014
